Branding: Concept, Visual Identity, and Web Design
In December 2024, a new wine bar opened in the heart of Vaasa. A place with a relaxed atmosphere where it’s easy to enjoy good company. Here you’ll find fresh lunch options, flavorful small dishes, and an extensive wine list. The food at EIJN is inspired by Mediterranean tapas, and the interior design is a modern version of a Spanish wine bar.
Concept and Branding
EIJN is the third restaurant from the same owners in Vaasa, so it was only natural to connect the brand to its sister restaurants, HEJM and FRÖJ.
We started by defining the new concept together and brainstorming various names. The name EIJN comes from the Ostrobothnian expression “gå på eijn” – meaning to meet for a drink.
Interior and Marketing in Harmony
The interior at EIJN highlights shades of blue – which is why we chose the same color for the graphic profile. The salads served during the day and the tapas offered in the evening are inspired by Mediterranean flavors, which led us to incorporate two warm tones into the visual identity – a terracotta and the same beige used in FRÖJ’s graphic material. EIJN’s visual profile is built around a bold typeface chosen to add a modern touch, used in everything from menus to the website.
The logo was designed to match those of FRÖJ and HEJM. It is based on the same typeface but has been redrawn for perfect balance. If you look closely, you’ll find both a wine glass and the letter J in the symbol that completes the logo.
Web Design and Illustrations
EIJN’s website serves as both an information hub and an online showcase. Unique illustrations tell the story of EIJN’s concept – transitioning from a salad bar on weekdays to a wine bar in the evenings and on weekends.
